Capitol Hill Day at the National 4-H Conference is an opportunity for youth delegates to visit their elected representatives in Congress and inform them about the 4-H program in their state. Each delegation is responsible for scheduling appointments with their Senators and Representatives before arriving to the Conference.
Schedule
Capitol Hill Day begins with an early breakfast at the Conference Center. Delegations will then load buses and travel to the USDA Assembly to be held at the Jamie L. Whitten Federal Building (Department of Agriculture). Concluding the USDA Assembly(approximately 11:00am), delegations will then proceed to their Capitol Hill visits. Note: Delegations are on their own for Capitol Hill visits and lunch during the day. Delegations are also responsible for getting to their visits and and the Clover Cruise.
Security Guidance
Do not forget your photo identification for access to USDA and Capitol buildings! Only those delegates officially registered will be on the security clearance list to access the USDA building. Also, you can visit the Architect of the Capitol website http://www.aoc.gov for more information about security protocols and prohibited items in U.S. Capitol Buildings.
Delegation Itineraries
Delegations must submit detailed Capitol Hill Day itineraries - including a cell phone number of the Adult Chaperone. Itineraries will be collected onsite at the Chaperone meeting taking place Saturday evening.
